but after a bit...thoughts...
because i believe that our youth have been sold a lie and are being ill-used. and we are not protecting them and we are not supporting them, nor keeping them as safe as we could.
they do not fight, nor die, nor lose limbs, arms, feet, faces, minds, souls, for right or to defend their country, though they may think they do, and though some of us must convince ourselves they are in order to justify the loss.
and therein lies my sorrow and my pity.
but i do pray, and keep a candle lit for all.

Q, sugar, yes...all is true. They DO fight for what is right and true, fer now but fer history too...and for mush-headed folks that doan have a clue.

yeah, i take offense. my comment was courtesy, considerate, thoughtful, and reflective of my opinion, without attacking others.
is it not conceivable that clear-thinking people can disagree?
or is it possible that others who think this war is just are mush-headed themselves? hmmmm... if each side thinks the other is mush-headed, we will never pull together on anything.

oh, and to note:
i have close to a dozen friends from my life serving... right now... there.
in the thick of things. for what they believe is right. Marines, Army and even the ANG.
One of my closest, a man who's a volunteer, running a supply truck between sites. Fuel, food, mail and more to all the men and women who are supposed to be in our thoughts every day.
This man is a civvy, doing what he thinks is right. he's got a target painted on his chest tho. i've already heard stories of grenades being tossed INTO HIS WINDOW as he's driven by locations... only to thankfully BOUNCE OUT of the passenger window...
crap onna duck. that's a nightmare come true.
he contacted me today via instant messenger of all things. i was SOO HAPPY TO HEAR FROM HIM...
XMAN is his alias... X marks the spot.
he comes home in 10 months after his second "tour."
all i can say is WOW.

Looky, Bird Beauty, doan git yore feathers ruffled, sugar--Aunty was not meaning any particular body (bird or or human) when I say those who doan see the threat and the necessity for brave Marines is "mush" brained.
And a'course we can disagree politely--and "mush" ain't much of an impoliteness given what flies around these heah blogs!
So ter ALL (animal and human) ya'll wif adled pates on the matter of war--here is a primer:
Ya'll is into diversity, right? Well, chicks, that means ya should KNOW that some folks have a very DIVERSE idea of the value of human life, and the rules of engagement.
Muslims is diverse in this way--they have a different perspective from ya'll, an it doan include yer version of tolerance.
Therefore, in order fer ya'll ter keep on being free to trumpet "diversity" and "tolerance" ya'll need protection from the demonstrably intolerant muslims who have called fer yer destruction.
So, ya'll need ter be tolerant of the men (and women)who defend yer REAL life from yer wishful thinkin'life; be "tolerant" of those who keep ya' safe so ya can git on blogs and denounce these brave men and women's mission.

AB: I'm in firm agreement that SOME muslims are intolerant,and some are extremist and have their hearts set on destroying those who disagree with them.
my beef with you and those like you, is that you lump all muslims into the same category.
and if you weren't talking about me being mush-headed - why then, who were you talking about - again your generalization covers ALL - then you come back and make exceptions for those whom you know - but it's still the same - if someone doesn't think like you you attack them instead of their ideas.

well let's turn the tables - you mush-headed folk with addled pates who have bought all the lies and propaganda - heavens- get a clue for cryin' out loud - force our government to provide our soldiers in that hell-hole with the proper equipment and with rational plan of action. take care of the soliders as they deserve to be taken care of by putting some funding back into the VA and making sure widows of soldiers get what they need without having to hire lawyers to sort out the red tape. and let's also make sure that soldiers who are disabled by this disgusting war receive the help they deserve - and their families as well.

Ah, sigh...Birdie Birdie, honey, lighten up....first, read carefully--Aunty did Not say that you denounced soldiers (on this blog or anywhar.) Check out what I said, sugar.
Next, I'se jes' fine wif' yore turnin' the discussion around--and notice, Aunty ain't frettin' none over yore saying mah position on this heah muslim problem is "adle pated or mush brained". That doan bother me none a'tall. Thas' a fair description from yore point of view.
But fer ya' to describe me as mush-brained does not qualify as an
attack on mah personhood, merely a disagreement wif' mah analysis. I ain't threatend, sugar, iffin' ya' describe me as adle pated--cause youse not criticial of mah good intentions or of mah worth as a person. Jes' as Aunty is certain youse well intentioned, however MISTAKEN I thinks ya is.
It is OK fer ya' to have a strong expression of disagreement wif' mah analysis of the situation. It doan fret me none, chile.
Now fer a shock ter ya system--Aunty thainks youse right: We oughta take better care of our military folks.

As fer generalizations--here's the thang, honey: Youse seemin' ter take comfort from the fact that some muslims is "good" muslims, peaceful according ter yore understandin' of "peaceful", but thas' a false comfort. The majority is NOT interested in yore definition of peaceful. An the harsh truth honey is that it takes only a few hundred muslims ter kill millions of us "infidels"
Here's a truth: Here in Florida the chamber of commerces tell folks that the chance of being bitten by a shark at our beaches is
one in 10, 000. But Bird, the thang is, when it's yore laig in the shark's belly, ya doan give a dern what the odds were.
Last thought: It seems ter me over the last few months of exchanges that folks of yer persuasion is far more interested in protectin' a cherished veiw; a view of the world based on how you'd like it ter be. Youse so protective of this utopian hope that youse incabable or unwilling to deal wif the reality of thangs as they in fact are.
Aunty thainks that youse refusing ter use yer noggin that I knows is smart---Bird, them islamic teachings is rotten at the core. Folks schooled in it is bent toward that worldview and they will keep on being what thay have been since the 700s: Militant conquerors and oppressors wherever they can gain dominance.
This militancy is not the fault of Bush or Republicans or Capitalists or the Church or the West or ANY other entity--it is INHERENT in Islam, not created as response to other entities.
Now ya' doan care fer that idea, I knows this. Youse insisting on basinng yore view of islam on a skewed view of history and the nature of Man. Youse hopin' that if we model tolerance, if we leave them alone, if we stop being us, then they will morph into people like YOU. That they will become peaceful tolerant citizens of the world.
They won't. They can't iffin' they try ter be "good" muslims.
Yore cherished view is badly mistaken (in mah view) Nothin' but a sweet hope and a nice wish...but DEADLY wrong.
Honey, Aunty and folks of mah persuasion ain't aimin' ter kill ya'--so doan be upset wif' and argue wif' mah type, cause even if I was ter change tomorrow into a peacenik...them muslims is still a'comin' fer ya'.
Bottom line is that somebody is gonna have ter pay wif' they lives ter keep people like us'uns, the doves and the hawks, free. Freedom ain't free and never has been.
